Having worked in the recruitment industry for more than 3 years, I would suggest customizing your resume as per the job description.

Highlight skills, and achievements as per the job requirement. Make things quantifiable and impact-driven. eg. Did x to improve y by z%. It should be directed towards an outcome.

Also, don't forget the basics. Keep your resume concise to 1-2 pages, use good formatting, and focus on important stuff. (you can even downplay things which are not relevant to a particular job).

Your pedigree impacts the shortlisting process, but it's not everything. I hope this helps.

@Simran- Having participated in over 60 interviews and secured 17 job offers, I believe I am well-equipped to answer this question. Please refer to the points below:-

  1. Relevant Experience and Skills: Recruiters prioritize resumes that demonstrate relevant experience and skills closely aligning with the job requirements.
  2. ATS Optimization: To pass through ATS, integrate keywords from the job posting into your resume and format it for easy parsing by including clear headers, bullet points, and standard fonts.
  3. Bullet Points and Skills: Focus on quality over quantity, aiming for 5-7 concise bullet points per job, highlighting key achievements and responsibilities. Emphasize skills that are directly applicable to the role.
  4. Fortune 500 Company Impact: Yes, mentioning previous employment at Fortune 500 companies can enhance your resume, indicating experience within prestigious and reputable organizations, potentially increasing your credibility as a candidate.

Hope this answers your question.

Recruiters seek resumes that showcase relevant experience, achievements, and skills aligned with the job. To pass through ATS, tailor your resume with keywords from the job description, maintain a simple format without special characters, and include pertinent information. Aim for 5-7 impactful bullet points per job and focus on directly relevant skills. While Fortune 500 company names can add credibility, emphasize your achievements within those organizations. Ultimately, prioritize highlighting your accomplishments and demonstrating how your experience makes you an ideal candidate for the role.
